This question is a variation of the to-be-expected "tell me a little about yourself" interview question. It's a way for both you and the interviewer to ease into the interview, allowing the interviewer to get a quick overview of who you are as a candidate while letting you highlight the most central aspects of your professional and personal identity.

Avoid going into too much detail. Begin by discussing relevant aspects of your background that precede your current situation. You may also include a brief overview of who you are outside of work, as this will help paint a picture of the 'authentic you.'

"I'm a recent graduate from (XYZ) University, where I studied supply chain management. I plan to draw on my academic experience and my two internships at (X) company and (Y) company to be successful in this role. But outside of my academic and professional experience, the 'authentic' me is a huge extravert, someone who loves to learn new things and a lover of traveling and exploring new places!"

"I would characterize myself as a passionate salesperson, a good friend, and a lifelong learner. I've been in the sales industry for the past 10 years and still learn something new every day. While work will always be an important component of my identity, the activities I love to pursue outside of work - like training for marathons and cooking - are of central importance to who I am as a person, too."

My first adult job was in HM forces- I believe this is where I really developed as a person. I have always taken we are one team and have each other's back in to all aspects of my private and work life. I still socialize with many former colleagues but also become very invested in Yoga and meditation- something I do several times a week at a practice.

Interesting! What is HM forces? If you aren't sure the interviewer will know, be sure to clarify (maybe it's commonplace terminology where you are!) Can you connect your ability to alleviate stress through yoga and meditation and your strong belief in teamwork to this new role? Doing so will strengthen your response. Great job!
