Think of how you have impacted others by going out of your way to help someone complete a task, overcome an obstacle, or reach a goal. These actions tie in with empathy and emotional intelligence, two traits that KPMG recruiters keenly look for when awarding internships.
To deliver an answer to this behavioral-based interview question, try using the STAR answer method, an acronym for Situation, Task, Action, Result. Using STAR, tell a story of when you went out of your way to help someone. Keep your example professional and related to work or an experience you encountered while attending school, volunteering, or participating in a group event.

"Our university basketball team made regionals this year. We were playing our final game when my opponent tripped on the court and sprained their ankle. I was the only one to notice the fall, so I helped the player get up and to the sidelines. My coach was impressed that I was so aware and willing to help someone from the opposite team. It felt nice to be kind and do the right thing. After the game, both coaches thanked me for my sportsmanship. Helping others comes naturally to me, and I am conscious of extending the same kindness to others as I would like to receive. I understand that KPMG invests significant resources of all kinds to find interns who will uphold the values and culture of the firm, which includes actively embracing diversity and inclusive action and taking steps to help build a better working world.
