In helping over 100,000 each year across Canada, the Canadian Red Cross relies on volunteer efforts to perform a variety of tasks and missions. This can range from being a part of an emergency response team to delivering goods and services to residents in their homes. If asked this question during your interview, there's a high likelihood that your work will cross paths with those who are volunteering their time there. Be open about any experience you have in working with volunteers at any point in your past. If you don't have this experience, that is okay. If you have the unique experience of recruiting volunteers, make sure to highlight your role and successes in this duty.

"Honestly, I have very little direct experience working with volunteers. Early in my career in the hospital setting, volunteers were utilized to welcome and transport patients but I didn't work directly with them. Some of my family members have volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross in recent years and I know that they had an amazing experience. I'm looking forward to learning more about how this role will work closely with volunteers in the future."
