"Over the past couple of years, while earning my undergraduate degree, I have learned to have a lot more grace and patience with myself when situations do not go as planned. Last month I missed a chemistry project deadline primarily because I underestimated the need for support on the project. Despite working dozens of hours on the project, I missed the deadline by one day. When I realized that the deadline was fast approaching, I reached out to my professor and apologized, asking for an extension. I did take full accountability for the inconvenience and met the extended deadline. The result was strong, and I received a stellar grade; however, I did not get to the finish line as smoothly as I would have wished. Now, for large projects, I put in the bulk of the hours upfront so that I am never caught off by the time commitment again."
