Many things can threaten to hold us back at work, including uncooperative teammates, lack of process and resources, or little understanding of our job requirements. Some situations may feel out of your control; luckily, most of these situations are well within our control.
Talk to the interviewer about how you would handle a hypothetical situation at work that you felt was holding you back from being your most successful. Tell an engaging story, and be sure to express what you would do to make the best of the situation. This question is not a time to complain but rather show how you would rise above.

"If there were a situation that I felt was holding me back at work, I would first assess the core of the issue and then determine what factors I could control. I am a highly analytical person, so it would be essential to me that I fully understood the factors and reasoning surrounding the issue. I would begin by measuring the problem, evaluating my resolution options, and then defining a plan of action. Most important would be that I take a look internally and focus on the roadblocks that were caused by my own decisions. I would never blame anyone else's actions, direct or indirect, for holding me back. My progress is my responsibility."
