How do you stay up to date in your profession?

"I subscribe to several newsletters, from Oil & Gas Journal, to Upstream, Hart Energy, and Rigzone. I subscribe to a few podcasts as well, in addition to what the algorithm plugs into my newsfeed. I also have followed Baker Hughes Newsroom, Energy Forward Stories, and occasionally browse the Case Study Library as well. I also look for trending tweets on Twitter and I follow several oil and gas corporations on social media, for up-to-date news. I'm always looking for new sources of reliable information about the industry."

You always want to be in the position of seeming prepared to answer any question posed, while exuding confidence and communicating clearly. So, before your interview, write down every method you employ to stay current and up to date in your profession, field, and industry. Refresh your memory in advance rather than on the spot. Write down all the sources of information you rely upon, from what's in your news feed, to email newsletters, blogs, print periodicals, seminars, speaking events, and anything else that you rely upon for such information. Then, spend adequate time researching all the sources of information Baker Hughes offers online, those which serve as quick resources which they expect the work community to be instantly up to date with, such as their newsroom, Energy Forward Stories, Case Study Library, to name a few.
