What is your favorite food?
"I'd say my favorite food is my homemade tacos. I am very conscientious about my diet and make everything from scratch. I used dried beans, so I have to soak them overnight. I make my own salsas with dried chilis, and this takes time as well. I also make my own corn tortillas from scratch. It takes a lot of organization and planning, but when planned out and done right, it creates a big batch, and my super delicious meals are planned for the week."
Fun questions like this are designed to lower your guard and get you out of interview mode. Aiming for consistency throughout the interview is as important as giving them insights into your personality. The only way to accomplish both is by being professional yet sincere throughout the interview. Have fun with this question, and let them get to know the best side of you. Let your personality shine in a way that says you are already one of them.
This question will give the assessment vendor and the hiring authority who'll view the recording later an opportunity to contrast the real you against the performative professional you. They will use this question to identify your tells versus your poker face. Consistency is key. They'll evaluate the consistency of the details of your answers, identifying conflicting statements, conflicting verbal and nonverbal data points, and the consistency of your background and appearance. For example, if you state you are highly organized and professional, but your background is cluttered and untidy and your items are unprofessional, this contradicts your statements. Wear professional clothing appropriate for the role. Make sure your space is organized, free of distractions, and work-appropriate. Make sure your statements are consistent and truthful, and your confidence and demeanor are by your true nature.
