Can you tell me about a time when you struggled to meet your own goals or objectives?

"When the pandemic hit and my course load shifted to remote learning, I had to move back in with my parents, who both work out of the home. This environment proved far too distracting to devote myself appropriately to my studies. So I realized I had to get out of the house and find another place to study. So I used my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot and studied at an outdoor/indoor music venue that was covered with stadium seating but was otherwise effectively abandoned. It turned out to be a wonderful environment to work in, with no one around to distract me from my studies. I normally have no issues working around colleagues, but parents are different."

They're looking for "the best of the best," for motivated apprentices and future collaborators towards innovation. This question aims to reveal how far you've progressed in your professional development. The example you provide should reveal where you are in your development, and whether you're ahead of the game or lagging behind. Paint a picture of who you are and it will determine whether you're a good fit for the opportunity they are offering.

Provide an example that centers on the struggle you faced, and how you overcame it, even if you didn't succeed to the degree you hoped. What is important are the gains that contributed to greater success moving forward.

Don't offer examples where you didn't succeed, didn't learn from the experience, and laid blame on external circumstances or on others. Avoid painting yourself as a victim.
