"As a technical program manager, I encourage others by creating a safe space for my teammates to think and share ideas. We have developed a nurturing culture that recognizes that the only dumb ideas are those you are afraid to share. All options are welcome because they might lead someone to the best idea possible.

I use several brainstorming exercises to help get things flowing and create a comfortable and playful physical environment that encourages creativity. For example, the space for my current team has beanbags, toys, snacks, whiteboards, markers, motivational quotes, a lot of light, and other things that set the stage for a comfortable and fun environment to develop ideas."

"I encourage ideas through my open and accepting approach to working with others. I am a good listener, and people seem comfortable discussing their ideas with me. I offer thoughtful feedback to help them advance their ideas when appropriate."

Remember to mention any methods you are familiar with to generate ideas, such as the facilitation of brainstorming sessions or other strategic thinking methodologies. Interviewers value candidates who have experience working with best practices in addition to their own methods.
