Product knowledge is a critical aspect of many of the open positions at Zebra Technologies. Interviewers ask questions like these to ensure the candidate they hire is prepared for their interview and well-informed about the products they will work to develop or support.
As a career coach, I always encourage the clients I work with to research the products they will be working with directly in detail. Additionally, I encourage them to be prepared to discuss products outside of their area of expertise conversationally. Showing up to an interview unprepared to discuss or ask questions about the products of a technology company is a recipe for interview disaster in most cases and will likely result in elimination from the interview process.

Remember to prepare several product-related questions to ask your interviewer. For example, you might review the company blog and ask about an article you read about the latest in wearable technology. If you are an engineer or plan to work in a technical role, you can dig into the technology-specific applications you will be working with if hired.
Be sure to match your inquiry to your audience. For example, a detailed question about RFID technology at Zebra may not resonate well with the HR recruiter. You would want to save that for your interview with the technical manager or fellow engineers you would be working with if hired. Zebra Technology interviewees report five or more rounds of interviews in some cases, including HR, technical, and managerial-focused rounds, so be sure to compile a variety of options that best fit your audience.

"The product line includes scanning, printing, barcoding, mobile and wearable computers, location detection, robotics, and software solutions. Zebra has an impressive portfolio in each of these areas.
The extensive product line here at Zebra Technologies is the main reason I am so excited about the possibility of joining the team. I have extensive experience working with scanning and warehousing technology solutions, and I want to extend my skills by working with healthcare solutions. I would love to ask a few questions about the new CS60-HC companion scanner if time allows."

"The product line at Zebra technologies includes scanners, printers, mobile computers, RFID products, and temperature monitoring solutions. Zebra also offers an extensive suite of software solutions that allow their customers to work with one vendor for a comprehensive solution. I think that is a smart business model, and I look forward to supporting Zebra Technologies customers if hired for the open customer support position."
