The ability to connect well with others contributes directly to the development of healthy team dynamics, success, and workplace satisfaction. When interviewing, I commonly test each candidate's ability to provide honest and relatable answers to questions like these under pressure. Skillful and relatable answers boost my confidence the candidate will be able to quickly become a valued part of the team if hired.
Remember to include a specific and personal example within your response. For example, you might describe a time when you organized an event or offered to help a coworker who was in a tough spot. Recalling a time you demonstrated an advanced team-based skill will make a memorable impression on any potential teammates you might interview with at Zebra Technologies.

"I enjoy working in a team setting and connecting with my coworkers. I have used several techniques to develop relationships and customize my approach to match the specific team and individuals I am working with. For example, I currently work in a remote setting, and I noticed that our team wasn't collaborating effectively. We discussed it in a retrospective meeting, and we all agreed that spending time learning about each other would help us to be more successful.
I volunteered to organize a series of team-building events. I met with each team member and asked them about their professional backgrounds and personal life. We met as a team every month, and I shared some of the things I learned about the person. We then did an activity together in honor of something our teammate enjoyed. We ate food from various cultures, watched a movie together, toured a museum online, and learned how to sketch cartoon characters. It was a fun way to get to know more about each other, and we found it made a huge difference in our ability to share ideas, trust each other, and successfully deliver our product."

"I have connected with my teammates in the past by learning about them personally and professionally, spending time together outside of work, and offering to assist others in need. For example, I most recently worked as an assistant manager in a retail outlet while in college. I frequently invited my coworkers to join me for meals and offered to pick up shifts or stay late when they had scheduling or other personal conflicts. I found that taking time to get to know my coworkers and offer help when needed helped us pull together as a strong team. We were the number one store in our region for the three years I worked there.
I was very impressed with what your current and former employees have shared online about the team culture at Zebra Technologies. I value teamwork and am eager to work in a healthy and positive environment. I look forward to adding to the teams here if hired."
