"Whenever I am assigned to a new product development project, I have a few preconceptions about what features should be included. I confirm these and expand on them using market research and customer feedback. Once my list is complete, I then collaborate with the other product stakeholders, including engineering, design, production, and marketing, to understand their list of desired features. I then work with them to narrow the list to features that the customers want, are feasible, can be produced, and will make the products competitive and profitable. This process involves some negotiation, persuasion, a bit of compromise, and valid market data to support our decisions."
