Some degree of stress is an inevitable part of most jobs. The interviewer would like to get a better idea of how you react to stressful situations with this behavioral-based question.

"I've gotten better at handling stress over the years and consider myself to be quite calm under high-pressure situations. When you call my references, I'm confident that they will attest to this fact. I aim to focus on the task at hand and make sure not to get distracted. I find working under a deadline is quite helpful, and I will delegate when necessary to alleviate some stress. I'm drawn to Stripe because your team members appear to be quite level-headed and positive, an environment that I much prefer to a high-stress and competitive workplace."

"I think of myself as being resilient when faced with stress and believe this is because of my experience working in a management role in a fast-paced environment for over a decade. Under times of extreme stress, I make sure to give myself a breather whether that be a quick walk around the block or a couple of minutes on the phone with my wife who is great at bringing me back down to earth."

Demonstrate the strategies you draw upon to effectively manage stress and ensure that it doesn't get in the way of doing your job effectively. Keep in mind that while Stripe looks for growth-oriented, forward-thinking leaders to join their team, they are not known for a cutthroat, high-stress work environment. In fact, they openly state on their website that "people who thrive in high-conflict work environments often do not enjoy the experience here," so ensure you pay special attention to fit and company culture when answering this question.

I have several methods, in the office, I take regular walk breaks, conduct several standup meetings (which help). Out of the office, I use the GYM, time with family, and friends. I enjoy cooking and fine dining.

Rachelle's Feedback
It sounds as though you have a well-balanced lifestyle, which always helps when it comes to stress management. Nice response.

I am pretty good at handling stress; I don't think that being stressed changes the situation. When I am under pressure on the job, I prioritize the tasks to make sure to focus on tasks with high-priority first, and I will ask for collaborations if needed.

Rachelle's Feedback
Wonderful answer! The interviewer should appreciate that you are willing to ask for help when needed and that you are organized when it comes to prioritization.
