"I appreciate and respect the stance of Philips Healthcare concerning the flexible working policy. Having two children in their teenage years, I spend summer evenings coaching softball for their teams. During April through August, practices typically start at 5:00 pm on weekdays, so there shouldn't be a conflict with regular work hours for this position. Our games and tournaments are always on the weekends, so if weekend call or coverage is needed, I would give you my weekend tournament schedule if hired for the position."

"If hired, I am flexible as far as working hours go. I have split custody of my son, so every other week, I'd need to be home by 4:30 pm to be home when he gets off the bus. If overtime were mandated on any particular day or a meeting was running late, I'd need a notification so my mom or my ex-spouse would be available at that time. Do you see this need as an issue for this position?"

The interviewer will be looking for you to give an open and honest assessment of your personal need for work hours as it pertains to striking a healthy work-life balance for you and your family.
