Ideally, I would like to stay within HR. I have been in an HR capacity for the last 6 years and I really enjoy the work I do and the relationships I am able to build with the employees I serve. This is why I eventually went back to school to attain my masters degree in HR management last year. In the next 5 years, I would love to grow into a more senior or management position. I do consider myself a natural leader, but it would be a goal of mine to attain the title and be able to become a mentor to another person or people and grow their skills like leaders I have encountered have grown mine.

Rachelle's Feedback
Very well said! It's clear that you have a strong path ahead of you in HR and that you have committed yourself wholly to this profession. Your future goals are specific and highly achievable.

I am currently interested in the role I have applied for, I would like to grow within the company and become a manager of my team with other opportunities for growth.

Amanda's Feedback
Employers often ask this question to gain a clearer insight into your future goals and how those goals match up with the position you're applying for. However, it doesn't mean you have to name a particular role you want to be in. It could be as simple as naming skills you want to gain, the path you see yourself taking to becoming a respected manager (Is there another role you need to advance to first?), or naming a particular committee or project you'd like to work on, or talking about any additional training or certifications you'd like to earn that would help further your career. Where possible, draw connections between your career goals and the skills or traits required by the job description for the role you're applying to.
