How would you rate your communication skills on a scale from 1-10?
Kimberly-Clark's core values of 'we care, we own, and we act' deeply involve communication between the colleagues at the company and the external customers and stakeholders. Your interviewer needs to know you are comfortable with your verbal and written communication skills.
"My current supervisor and co-workers will attest to my clear and concise communication skills. Because I am an open leader, my team also lets me know if I need to clarify anything. Based on this feedback from my current co-workers, I would rate my communication skills as an 8 out of 10. I'm strong in this area, but I still have room for improvement as I grow as a leader and become more familiar with Kimberly-Clark's communication values."
"I will rate myself an 8.5 because I believe in being clear, direct, and upfront with my co-workers. It is the foundation of all success in business. I always strive to be a better communicator - to be clear but kind. I would also bring stellar written communication skills to your team here at Kimberly-Clark with my great experience crafting external customer communications."
Avoid sounding smug and perfect, but show you have strong interpersonal skills. Seal your answer here by discussing the positive feedback you've received on your communication skills.
"I am a straightforward communicator in a team setting, and my professors and classmates have appreciated my approach over the last four years. I'm also very well-versed in writing detailed reports and email communication, so would rate myself as an 8 out of 10. If I'm fortunate enough to join Kimberly-Clark, I know I'd have room to grow and learn."

I would rate my communication skills at an 8. I feel I communicate well as well as I ask my co-workers if they understand what I am saying when giving instructions to the men when I am the foreman. I always ask if they have a better plan or idea as well.
Marcie's Feedback
Giving yourself an 8 rating is good because it shows that while you have confidence in your ability to communicate, you don't think you're perfect (which could come off as arrogant). Don't forget, however, that there are various forms of communication: verbal, written, nonverbal, listening, public speaking, and so on. Consider talking about your strengths in these areas as well. You can even give yourself different ratings according to each communication type if you want. Great job!
