If you are stressed out in your personal life, it could affect your performance at work. If you feel overwhelmed at work because of poor time management, you might bring more stress home from work, not sleep well, and not perform at your best. If an employee is stressed out at work, they'll burn out faster. This could even lead to an employee calling in sick because their work generates anxiety due to the association, and they need a mental health day, or several. When a team has to pick up the slack of a coworker who doesn't consistently show up to their station, then the whole team suffers, feels the burden and stress, and starts to burn out. This domino effect cuts into the entire department's productivity, and the interview process starts all over again. Considering the payroll hours invested in screening applicants, interviewing, onboarding, and training, they need to ensure the person they choose can handle stress and won't burn out.
