A newer, well-liked employee wanted to take on more responsibility. The work they asked about was outside of their skill set. No one wanted to take on mentoring them in this task, focussing on more celebrated 'clutch-players'. I saw the positive morale potential to help this employee succeed. Another 'clutch-player' employee expressed interest in being promoted from within to management. So I coached that 'clutch player' on training the newer member of our team. They formed a bond, both grew, and this further promoted the morale of the team.
