Your interviewer is curious whether you have a methodical approach to problem-solving or if you are resourceful and improvise. Consider the skills and qualities that help you successfully face problems and overcome them. Perhaps you have a keen eye for detail. Maybe you can see an opportunity when others can only focus on the issue. Share your strengths as a problem solver, and emphasize your ability to come up with innovative solutions. Show that you are ready for this role and that you, like Cerner, "work at a fast pace because we believe in bringing tomorrow to life today."

I believe to be a good problem solver because, under any circumstances, I remain calm and focus on the solution. I gather facts and try to view the answer from multiple angles. I try to collect as much information and then try solving from bottom up. By staying calm and focused, I will be able to make a better decision.

Rachelle's Feedback
Wonderful answer! The interviewer should appreciate that you have such a systematic approach to problem-solving.
Anonymous Answer
First, understand the problem and then consider the skills of others by asking questions and exploring different solutions to solve the issues.

Rachelle's Feedback
Good! Do you have an example of a time when you solved an important issue by using this approach?
Anonymous Answer
I think I am a great problem solver because I like to step back and look at the problem as a whole. Instead of treating the superficial problem, I try to address root causes to make lasting change.

Rachelle's Feedback
Your philosophy on problem-solving is terrific! To drive your point home, do you have a brief story example of a time when you used this approach to overcome a roadblock in the workplace?
