What kind of pay are you looking for?

When discussing pay in an interview, it is best not to throw an initial number out (which is hard to say whether it is too low or high a number without having a clearer understanding of the payroll budget they have to work with. So, the best approach is to simply compare the benefits they offer to your current or previous employer, how their advancement opportunities compare as well, and what your current and projected pay is. Then, by sharing those numbers, they'll have a closer understanding of where they need to come in to bring you onboard which keeps the discussion going.

This includes what they describe as competitive pay, a generous employee discount, a flexible schedule, award-winning training, a supportive leadership team, and personal and professional development.

"I would obviously like to advance my pay rate. Who wouldn't when they are looking to advance their career with a new company? But, I also want to advance my career in a way that meets the expectations I have laid out in my five-year career plan. Having said that, the benefits package Best Buy offers is generous and comparable with my current employer. At present, I am earning 40,000 a year, and expect a five percent increase in the next three months."
