The interviewer wants to understand your ambitions and where you hope to be in a year. They are trying to determine if you will be at Aldi for a short period of time, or if you're committed to something long term. If you are a student, tell the interviewer that you plan to stay at Aldi through graduation, and then share what career or further education you hope to be pursuing after graduation. If Aldi offers jobs in your field, such as management, be sure to mention that you would be open to considering a career in your area at Aldi if one is available upon graduating.
If you are not a student, discuss your desire to maintain stable employment and grow with the company. You may even mention that you hope to have received a promotion by the one-year mark.

"I currently have two years left of school, so in one year, I plan to be on the same education track and working full-time. I want to maintain stability in my life, so if offered the job, I would plan to keep my position for as long as possible, hopefully even growing into a supervisor role in the next year or two!"

"My twelve-month plan is to join your organization and earn my way into a floor manager position. I have a great deal of experience with team management, customer dispute, and inventory. I believe you will see me well-suited for a management role in a short amount of time."

I want to run my own store.

Rachelle's Feedback
Are there steps you can take before becoming a store manager? The interviewer will also want to hear that you know which steps you need to take to be promoted to a management role.
"One year from now, after proving myself at the store level, and taking more leadership courses, I would like to be considered for a store management role."

Hopefully, still with the company and maybe offered a promotion after the year mark.

Rachelle's Feedback
'Hopefully' doesn't sound as confident as you'd like in an interview. If you have your eye on a promotion, be specific about what you would like the next step in your career to look like. I have provided an example below.
"In one year from now, I would love to be with Aldi, having earned my way into a team leadership role. Your floor manager position seems very exciting, and I aim to be eligible for a role like this as soon as I prove myself to be the best candidate."

I'm looking for a home, not a job. I see myself expanding my skillset and rising to expectations. While everyone wants to move up in this world, my goal is to do my job in a way that makes both myself and my employer more successful. I want to keep learning and see where that takes me.

Chad's Feedback
Great answer! The interviewer will be assured of your desire to stay with the company long-term and contribute to the organization's success while continuing to develop yourself professionally.
