The interviewer wants to learn more about your background and experience. If you don't have any experience, it's okay; Aldi often hires new grads and those without prior work experience! Tell the interviewer that you do not have any industry experience and look forward to making the transition and learning everything there is to know! Be sure to highlight some transferable skills from a time when you played a team sport or volunteered.
If you have experience, start by giving the interviewer an overview of your background by sharing where you have worked, your job title, and how long you were employed there. Add a sentence or two about what your job duties were in each role as well. Be sure to mention that you think you would enjoy working in retail and customer service and you look forward to continuing to work in retail industry roles.

"I do not have any experience working in retail, but I love working with the public and think I would enjoy working the cash register and interacting with the store's guests. I'm an extrovert and in my volunteer and school groups, I'm always the first one to lead a community event project because I love to meet new people!"

"I have not worked in a grocery store environment; however, I have worked in a clothing store for about one year. I learned a great deal about customer service, the point-of-sale systems, and upselling. I look forward to taking this experience to work with me at ALDI."

I have 12 years of experience in retail; my experience would include working on checkouts, warehouse duties, and shop replenishment.

Rachelle's Feedback
This is a good start! Try to elaborate by including any training you have had, leadership opportunities, and any awards and accolades, etc.

I've worked in high-end retail, which isn't the same thing. However, customer service is the same at every level. Making the customer feel seen is important. Meeting their needs is equally so. A customer can have 100 great experiences and not remember. One bad experience stays with people.

Chad's Feedback
This is a good start! Considering adding some additional details about your past working in high-end retail, in order to provide the interviewer with a full picture of your background and experience. This may include your job title, where you worked and for how long, and your key responsibilities in the role.
Prepare for Aldi's unique multitasking questions and efficiency-focused interview style.
