ALDI values leadership qualities in all employees, not just current managers. Think about a time you were in a leadership position or suddenly asked to step in and cover in a leadership capacity. This could be in the workplace, in a volunteer role, on a sports team, or school project. Share the situation in which you were leading, discuss what you enjoyed about the experience, and any positive outcomes that were a result of your leadership.

"Although I have never led in the workplace, I do take on a volunteer coordinator role on the weekends with the local animal shelter. I have qualities that would make me a good leader. I am a keen listener; I understand how to look at the big picture without losing momentum with small tasks. In that particular volunteer position, I have a great amount of success and find that other people respond to my approach very positively."

Jaymie Payne is passionate about talent acquistion and has nine years of experience in corporate and healthcare recruitment.
"My manager went out on leave unexpectedly, and they asked me to be the backup until he returned. I jumped in and began taking over tasks that he normally did daily and reassured the team that I was there to support them during that time. It was challenging to manage my workload while covering his, but I enjoyed the experience and learned a lot in the process."

I used to captain my local soccer team. I felt I was good at inspiring my teammates to motivate them to perform better. I also took no slack, and my expectations were quite high.

Rachelle's Feedback
Were you voted in as the captain? It would be a nice touch if you could add what you did to earn the 'captain' title. Your last sentence may come across as a bit demanding, which doesn't seem to match your other characteristics. I recommend softening it a little bit. I've provided an example below.
"I was captain of my local soccer team, earning the title through a team vote. I was good at inspiring my team and motivating them to perform their best. We had high expectations for each other, and I was very good at holding everyone, including myself, accountable."

A few years back my village proposed a rock crushing plant across the street from our middle school. I joined forces with my neighbors and started a grassroots campaign to stop them. It was rewarding as well as interesting. I utilized the resources available to me via FOIA requests, researching environmental impact reports, meetings with city officials, and collaborated with local health professionals to present an argument against the project. It worked. I was proud of my work in that.

Chad's Feedback
Good for you! This sounds like a great cause to support. To strengthen this response, clarify how you demonstrated leadership qualities in your example. Were you responsible for initiating the campaign against the location of the rock crushing plant? Were you selected by your neighbors to present the case against the project to city officials?
