Question 10 of 39

Why do you want to work for Airbnb?

"I have read nothing but great things about the work culture here and it sounds like the ideal environment for me. I love what it says on your website, about clapping and cheering each other on. And about having fun at work and laughing a lot. I mean, that sounds ideal, right? Working somewhere that you can truly be yourself while building the kind of relationships that last a lifetime. Plus, I love to travel, and I love the idea of traveling and working remotely, which I have done with excellence in the past. That's the dream of a work-life balance. Doing what you love, where you love doing it."

      What You Need to Know

One of Airbnb's core values is "Champion the mission. We're united with our community to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere." The employee testimonials they post on their website reiterate this spirit among their teams. "Airbnb is the type of place where you get calluses from clapping, strong fingers from coding, abs from laughing, and delicious food." "Every day at Airbnb, I get to work with the smartest people I know on beautiful technical projects that help share the joy of travel with the rest of the world."

Airbnb advertises that they trust their employees to be self-managed in their work. "Flexibility only works when you trust the people on your team. It's clear that flexibility works for Airbnb. Live your best life. There's life at work and life outside of work. We want everyone to be healthy, travel often, get time to give back, and have the financial resources and support they need." Additionally, they advertise that they "believe increased transparency around base pay... including helping drive more consistency in our new hire compensation packages." They advertise that many of their positions enable their employees to live and work from anywhere. You have the flexibility to travel and work around the world." On their careers site, you can find more information about their comprehensive health plans, paid volunteer time, healthy food and snacks, generous parental and family leave, and annual travel and experiences credit.
