How to Answer
A great place to start with this classic interview question is to understand the reasoning behind the question. Primarily, the interviewer will use this question as an icebreaker to begin to get to know you. However, to you as the candidate, it can feel like being put in the hot seat. It is wise to keep the answer brief but share about your educational and professional experience and a little bit about you personally, as well. This question allows for a great opportunity to set a strong first impression. Be sure to have an answer prepared prior to the interview!

"I graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Business. Just before my senior year, I had a summer internship in Supply Chain Management. I really enjoyed the internship and learned a lot about the interworking of vendors, invoices, and supply and demand. For the past two years, I worked directly under a Vendor Manager and helped with contract management, invoices, and supply management. I am an extrovert and enjoy maintaining relationships with various partners. I am a strong communicator and enjoy the challenge of optimizing cost and efficiency. Outside of work, I enjoy attending live sporting events with my spouse. We love to stay active and are training for a half marathon this summer."
