Keep your answer brief, but give your interviewer at least three specific reasons why you're interested in the role. Include one reason that highlights your enjoyment of or excellence in a particular skill, one reason that describes how you might grow professionally in the role, and a third compelling reason. "I applied for the university administrator role within the XYZ department for three main reasons. First, my recent experience as an executive admin has helped me gain the office skills needed for success in this role. Working here would allow me to have a greater level of exposure to the department and projects I am interested in learning more about. Finally, I applied because everyone in my immediate family as well as several extended family members have attended school here.
