Price increases on existing products are not uncommon. The interviewer wants to know how you handle this in your marketing approach and hopes to hear that you have strategies for maintaining customer loyalty through price increases.
Discuss your strategy for navigating price increases. Your response should focus on understanding the reason for the price increase and communicating it in a positive way, either explaining why the same product now costs more (increasing material/labor costs, for example) or focusing on positive improvements that justify a higher price. Share a specific example if you have one.
"No one likes to hear that their favorite product just got more expensive, but the right delivery can soften the blow. My first step is making sure I fully understand the reason(s) for the price increase so I can brainstorm ways to communicate it. I think the best approach is a personalized one that includes direct emails."
