"I am comfortable leading a SWOT analysis session. In these sessions, we begin by discussing the strengths of the group or their business. From there, we brainstorm a list of weaknesses. I sometimes do this anonymously as it helps improve the quality of the information in groups struggling with conflict. Next, we discuss the relative importance of each strength and weakness and plot them in a matrix so we can get a visual sense of the impact each item has.
We then brainstorm a list of opportunities to improve upon the most impactful weaknesses, taking advantage of quick-hit opportunities and leveraging strengths to the fullest. Finally, we discuss any potential threats or roadblocks to our success that we need to account for. The results of the meeting are a framework for developing a strategic plan. They can help a group refine their mission and vision, develop goals, or validate a plan already in place."
