Why the Interviewer Asks This Question
It costs companies a lot of money to send candidates to the physician and to perform drug tests. The interviewer asks if you will have a problem passing either of the required tests to see if they should continue moving forward with you in the hiring process. If you know you will not pass one or the other, they would like to know now, so they do not waste their money moving forward.

Focus on assuring the interviewer that you will have no problem passing the drug test and physical exam. If you have a prior injury or medical condition, you can disclose that now while letting the interviewer know that you are physically fit to perform your job.

What to Avoid
Avoid telling the interviewer that you will pass both tests if you will not. If you know that you indulge in illegal drugs or have an injury or condition that will prevent you from performing your job, you should be honest with the interviewer during your interview. If you are honest and explain why you may not pass the drug test or the physical exam, the interviewer can decide if they want to move forward in the hiring process or not. If they like your personality and experience, they may be able to look past some issues.
