How do you prioritize work tasks?
Personal injury law may involve different compensation as some cases are taken on contingency. As a result, it can be difficult to evaluate which task to get done first. Perhaps you work the most on the case that can result in the largest settlement for the client (and therefore a larger paycheck for the firm). Or perhaps a client has a case that addresses an issue you are particularly passionate about and you dedicate more time to their case.
If you have not worked in this area of law before, you can explain generally how you organize and manage your time to get assignments completed. Keep in mind that in a law firm, you will be getting your assignments from a partner and they may provide guidance on what needs to take priority in your workload.
"When I am working with others on a project, I make sure that we are all on the same page about priorities and deadlines. If I am receiving multiple tasks from a senior associate or partner, I would verify with them about which one they would like completed first, second, etc.
If they do not have a preference or there is no pressing deadline, I usually take a quick look at all the tasks before deciding on how to prioritize them. I like checking things off my list, so I would likely first tackle the task I could complete quickest. The satisfaction of getting it done would motivate me to move on and complete the next tasks."
