"I believe building trust starts with communication. I would take the time to listen to the entire story that my client wishes to share with me. I understand that is probably going to include more than the facts of the accident. They may want to share past stories or experiences they've had after the accident. Listening to all the information helps me determine their approach to the situation. I can then tailor my explanations in a way that they will hopefully understand better.

Listening is only part of effective communication. I would make an effort to talk with clients in a way that doesn't intimidate them. The law is filled with jargon and technical terms that aren't helpful for clients to understand what it means for their case. I believe it's part of my job to take complex information and make it accessible for my clients. I would also focus on setting clear expectations in our conversations. I believe all of this would help establish a trusting relationship with the client."
