"One activity that I implemented that was not well received was karaoke. I had a few residents suggest the activity before implementing it, and those were the only residents that participated. I asked the other residents why they were not engaging in the activity, and the response was it was too difficult to read the screen with the words to the song because the words moved quickly. To make the activity more appealing, I suggested that karaoke become a family night activity where visitors could come and sing. After implementing that change, I had a lot more participation."

When I was volunteering at _______, I started a Poetry group. Only one person showed up on the first day. While she reported enjoying the activity, she never showed up to another group. In addition, no one else attended any of the poetry groups.
Marcie's Feedback
Did you discontinue the poetry groups after several times? Did you consider why the participation was so low and brainstorm ways to increase the interest level? Tie up your answer by telling the interviewer that you recognize that not every idea will work out and be a hit but that you always strive to offer a variety of activities that interest the residents regardless.
