There are many ways to encourage participation among the residents. First, you must ask and listen to what the residents want. If you are creating activities that are not enjoyed, there will be less participation. When you design programs that interest the residents, there will automatically be increased participation. You can encourage friendships among the residents, which helps with accountability, and involve the residents' family members if needed. Choose a method that works for you and explain to the interviewer how you have encouraged participation among the residents.

"I have had great success with resident participation by asking and implementing activities they want. When I design an activities schedule, I include activities that the residents have asked for, which automatically increases participation."

I would periodically survey the residents or have a suggestion box always accessible to them so that I could make sure that we were offering what interests them. I would also find a way to get reminders to those who need assistance remembering the schedule so that they don't miss out on what they want to do.
Marcie's Feedback
These are great suggestions! Have you conducted surveys or put out suggestion boxes before? Were they successful? Do you have experience sending out reminders and did that increase participation? If you've carried out any of these ideas in the past, be sure to mention that as well. Nice job!
