This question is asked by interviewers who anticipate the need for a project manager to drive or participate in the selection of solution components that will be purchased. Vendor selection efforts can be complex and lengthy initiatives. It can be essential for a candidate to have experience in the main phases involved.
Remember to include all of the deliverables you were responsible for managing such as RFP, RFI, RFQ, etcetera. Also, mention any work you did to compare vendors such as scorecard development and review.
