At Cedars-Sinai, we believe in giving all of our employees a voice. Give me an example of a time you voiced an opinion that was different than the majority of your department or coworkers.

"I am happy to hear that you value opinion. I was in a situation last year where my team thought that utilizing our Medical Assistants differently would have narrowed their scope and put more work on our plates. My colleagues also thought the Medical Assistants weren't doing their patient care tasks well enough. I thoroughly disagreed. I came back to the group with the idea of more teaching and training instead. After many rounds of discussion, I finally got the team to see my view. We implemented the training, and collaboration greatly improved in our unit."

"I was working with a team on a very long surgery. We received direction from the physician to stitch the patient back up. After looking at the instrument tray, it appeared we were missing a clamp. I told the team to stop- they didn't think I was right, but after further inspection, we found one of the clamps inside the patient. The surgeon wasn't happy with me at that moment but was relieved in the end. I always advocate for the patient, and I'm unafraid to speak up respectfully."

The interviewer wants to hire an employee who is not afraid to voice their opinion respectfully. Give a work-related example so the interviewer can see that you have the courage to speak up and express your opinion.
