Much of the success of retailers like CVS rests on the honesty and fidelity of its employees. For this reason, the interviewer asks this question because they are interested in learning more about your work ethic and integrity. Let them know your thoughts on being honest and dependable in the workplace and how you strive to uphold these values in your professional life. Then, describe what your most recent employer would say about your character and honesty. If you have a copy of a letter of recommendation from them, now is an excellent time to share that with the interviewer.

"I would never steal from any store, especially my place of work! I know how important it is for my managers and coworkers to trust me to treat the store, merchandise, and cash with respect. During my exit interview at my last job, my manager, Gen, told me she found me extremely trustworthy and would hire me again if I ever wanted to return to the company."

"My most recent team leader, Joanna, told me multiple times that she considered me a person of integrity and honesty, which is feedback I really appreciate. I always want to be someone my coworkers and employers can trust. I always followed proper procedures when handling cash and merchandise and never took any shortcuts that could compromise the store's security. My previous employers would say I am a trustworthy and reliable employee who can be counted on to do the right thing, even when no one is watching."

I have been proven to be very trustworthy with my most recent employer. My supervisor has told me multiple times that I am considered a person of honesty and integrity. For example, I was given a job to deliver a meal ticket to another employee; my supervisor trusted me to do the job, and that's something I appreciated. I would never steal because stealing is never ok.
