Why are you pursuing a career as a Pharmacist?

Focus on giving your personal reason for choosing this career, responding with enthusiasm and passion. There is no right or wrong answer. The interviewer wants to gain insight into what motivated and inspired you to become a Pharmacist to determine if you will be a good fit for their organization.

Avoid saying you are pursuing a career as a Pharmacist for the money and benefits or because you could not get accepted into another healthcare program. If you seem like you are only in this career for monetary reasons, the interviewer will feel you lack passion for the job. If you say that you could not get accepted into another healthcare program, the interviewer will wonder why you were rejected and question offering you the CVS Pharmacy Internship.

"I am pursuing a career as a Pharmacist because my grandmother had chronic medical conditions while I was growing up. I would take her to her doctor's appointments and the pharmacy to have her medications filled. I enjoyed seeing the collaboration between her healthcare providers and the Pharmacist, who always ensured my grandmother would not have any adverse effects from the various medications she was prescribed. The Pharmacist was the one healthcare professional who ensured my grandmother was receiving optimal medication management. I asked the Pharmacist many questions, and she was very patient and informative. I decided I wanted to become a Pharmacist to provide optimal care to other patients like my grandmother."
