How many hours are you available to work per week?
The interviewer understands you are busy going to school or involved in outside activities. They ask this question to see how many hours per week you can work so they can see if your hours will work with their schedule.
There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Focus on being honest in your response. Whether you are available four hours per week or ten, you need to let the interviewer know.
Avoid saying you are available more hours than you can work. You might think it is better to say you have more availability than you have. But, if the interviewer hires you and you cannot work as often as you said, that will make the interviewer unhappy that you cannot fulfill your obligations.
"I have a very heavy school load at the moment, so the most hours I could commit to is 8 hours per week. I hope that can work with your schedule. My load should lighten up in the next two months, and I would be available to put in more hours then."
