Bunnings Warehouse strives to be a well-oiled machine through the functionality of their teams, counting on each member to have strong organizational and time management skills. Of course, emergencies and illnesses happen from time to time, which is different from chronically blaming extenuating circumstances for your attendance, such as your bus being delayed or not stopping at your stop or other circumstances. The responsibility ultimately falls on you to problem solve your logistics in getting to work on time. Make sure the interviewer knows that you value your coworkers and managers. If you had attendance issues in the past, be filtered with what you share and detail how you've overcome them.

"I know that my coworkers and managers rely on every team member to show up for their shifts on time and be prepared to work -- if one person doesn't show up for their shift, that means everyone else has to work harder! I've never skipped work without a good reason, and I always make sure to call in with plenty of advance notice so that my managers and coworkers are prepared to cover the shift. I've never had an unexcused absence from work."

"Luckily, I've only ever had to call into work twice -- I had a terrible case of the flu last year and couldn't make it into work for two shifts in one week. As soon as I got home from the doctor, I followed store protocol by emailing my coworkers and asking if anyone could cover my shift. I got one shift covered, but no one was available to cover the other. I immediately contacted my manager and let her know the situation. I made sure to get a doctor's note that I brought in during my next shift."

I cannot remember if I was absent from work last year, but in my 11 years in my previous job, I had three days of sick leave. I only took those days off because I felt I was contagious and didn't want to infect co-workers or customers.
I gave as much notice to my employer as I could.
