How do you handle situations that could cause you to be late or miss work?

Concern for the welfare of your team is integral to team collaboration, especially where promptness is integral to store operations. The proactive approach is to ensure you're a few minutes early for your shifts. Assure your interviewer you take measures to plan for traffic, bad weather, and any other circumstance that could make you late. On the rare occasions you run late, let them know you call work ahead of hand to give them a heads up you may be late but are putting in every effort to arrive on time. Your interviewer is looking to see that you are proactive and plan for and can handle the stress of unexpected situations when they arise.

"I stay calm and composed when issues arise. My dad got rear-ended once when driving me to school. I texted my friend to see if she could tell my teacher. I explained the situation to my teacher when I got to class. If this happened on my way to work, I would call ahead of time to ensure someone could cover my shift."
