"I worked with people from different cultural backgrounds, and growing up, my parents hosted exchange students from different countries in our home, so this is something I have a bit of exposure to. In most cases, upon introduction, I knew little about their culture and society. For some, I was amazed by what they endured. I had a vague idea, but not to the extent they shared. The hurdles they had to overcome and the sheer determination to beat the odds stacked against them. Despite what they endured, they consider themselves lucky. It humbles you."
