Question 12 of 30

How do you handle stress and pressure?

"I thrive under pressure and stress serves as a motivation for me to perform, stay focused, and be more productive. Of course, there are times when too much pressure can lead to stress. However, I'm very skilled at balancing multiple projects and meeting deadlines; this ability prevents me from feeling overly stressed. For example, I once had two large projects due in the same week, and that was a lot of pressure. However, because I created a schedule that detailed how I would break down each project into small assignments, I was able to delegate to others and get the help I needed to meet the deadlines. I managed to complete both projects ahead of time and avoided unnecessary stress."

      How to Answer

Employers are looking for individuals who can perform under stress and tight deadlines. Tell the interviewer that you remain calm, professional, and productive under stress, and when faced with numerous deadlines. You'll also want to provide specific examples of how you've handled stress in a positive way in the past. You might also provide examples of times when pressure actually made you work more productively. Everyone has had some form of stress in their lives, so don't say that you've never gotten stressed.
