"From my perspective, special events are as much marketing and networking opportunities as they are fundraising ventures. Every time I plan a special event, I hope to engage potential new donors and tell the story of our organization's history, its mission, and its impact on the community at large. To help me accomplish this goal, I always assist in registering guests so I can greet familiar faces and introduce myself to new people. During the event, I walk through and interact with our supporters and make sure to thank them for their support. After the event, I send out Thank You emails to our new supporters and encourage them to visit our facilities for a personal tour. In this way, special events are absolutely vital in supporting established and developing new revenue streams."
