How do you incorporate volunteers into fundraising efforts?

The interviewer wants to know ways you have included volunteers in the past. Describe these instances and share how you tap into each individual's skill set to determine suitable volunteer roles. Don't forget to emphasize the importance of training volunteers!

If you have never worked with volunteers, discuss ideas you have for utilizing their skills to boost donor engagement.

"In my capacity as Community Engagement Manager with my previous organization, I was responsible for the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers, which included directing their involvement in fundraising efforts. Due to privacy issues, volunteers were not allowed to access our donor database; however, I frequently engaged new volunteers by hosting donor acknowledgment nights. New and existing volunteers would stop by for an evening of letter-writing, thanking donors for their gifts. This gave me the opportunity to share more about our organization's work and even led to some volunteers becoming donors as well! I believe engaging volunteers is critical to an organization's fundraising efforts."
