What kinds of risks do you encounter during projects and how do you handle them?

"There is risk associated with almost all areas of a project. Some common examples include risk around communication, cost, resources, time, and scope. As I gain more consulting experience, I learn to avoid many of these risks. When I was first promoted to Lead Consultant several years ago, I encountered critical scope creep for the first time, a risk that can occur when new deliverables are added to the project's scope as it progresses. This caused my project to run over budget and timeline. I learned that I needed to define the scope of projects more clearly before they started and openly communicate all changes, big and small, to my team and client."
