"I pride myself on my ability to stay organized on both short and long-term projects. In my current consulting position, my projects range from 6 to 36 months on average. My organization methods begin with using technology to my advantage. I use my Google calendar and various task functions within Google Workspace. I take time to update my tasks and progress daily. Then, I re-prioritize tasks to ensure that project components are being worked on in the correct order. I understand that your organization also works on many long-term client projects, so I understand that staying organized will be extremely important for each unique project's success. "

Consultants often manage projects from concept to final implementation. Some of these projects are shorter-term, and others can be years in the running. The interviewer wants to hear that you can maintain organization while meeting deadlines and customer expectations across longer timelines.
Satisfied clients, and their referrals, are integral to the success and growth of a consulting business. Effective project management is key to gaining this approval and satisfaction from your clients. Talk about your preferred methods for organizing long-term projects. If you can, give a concrete example that highlights the ways your organizational methods have impacted a long-term project from the past.

"The ability to stay organized and on track comes down to having a concrete plan for each project and keeping track of milestones, large and small, through the use of a reliable system. Trello helps my team maintain a high level of organization on long-term projects. For instance, we recently wrapped up a 12-month client project. During that time, Trello helped me organize each project component and track which team member was responsible for certain tasks. I could see which deadlines were coming down the pipe and what milestones we had already reached. Even with the support of Trello, I always maintained the autonomy to re-prioritize due dates and sub-tasks as needed."
