The interviewer wants to gain insight into your long-term goals and aspirations, and how they align with the company's vision. They may also be interested in understanding how you plan to contribute to the company's growth and success, and how your skills and experience can benefit their team. It's important to demonstrate your commitment to advancing your career and pursuing opportunities for growth and development, as this can help showcase your value as a potential team member. Career progression can be a touchy subject, especially if you feel that your career hasn't progressed as well as you would have liked. If your career hasn't progressed as quickly as you would like, explain why.

"Overall, my career has progressed slightly slower than I would have liked. I have held a few positions that didn't offer the growth and learning I was expecting; however, I have bounced back nicely. This particular position would take my career exactly where it should be."

I have not been offered a claim adjuster position yet I am an insurance inspector, but the moment I am offered a claim adjusting position I will set out to exceed expectations and thrive toward continuing education to increase my skills.

Cindy's Feedback
You have the foundations of a persuasive answer here, but try framing it a little differently. If you don't have the claims experience per se, what discrete experience do you have that makes you a good candidate? What about being an insurance inspector has contributed to your knowledge of being a claims adjuster?

I have progressed but not at the pace I'd like due to some opportunities that did not have growth; however, I have managed to stay resilient. This particular position would bring me to where I need to be.
Marcie's Feedback
So the current role you're in didn't provide growth opportunities? Perhaps consider providing more color for the interviewer here. It's great that you've stayed resilient and that you are making changes now to move into a position that allows you to progress.

So far in my career, I am satisfied with how far I've progressed in a short amount of time. When working for State Farm as a customer service intern I was only part-time. Eventually, I became so helpful throughout the office that I became an essential member of the team and was quickly relied on by others in the office. I feel as though State Auto would help me advance even further with the room for advancement in my career.

Chad's Feedback
You sound pleased with your career progression so far, and confident in your ability to succeed and advance with State Auto. Great job!

That is interesting that you ask. I had, till this point, but have been feeling stale. I want more out of my daily work life. I want to have new and additional responsibilities. That is what I am looking forward to.
Marcie's Feedback
Great! Connect this desire for new challenges to the role. Explain that one of the reasons you're interested in landing the job is because you think you'll get to learn and gain more responsibilities. Also, give a brief overview of your progression in your career thus far. Nice job!
