Do not use this question to vent or complain about past co-workers. Your answer should demonstrate that while you try to prepare for a variety of issues and outcomes while practicing law, there will inevitably be problems. Explain to the hiring manager what you learned and whether you were able to avoid similar problems later.

"The biggest challenge I had in my last position was delivering bad news to clients. No one wants to be the bearer of bad news, and clients can get upset when they feel like they are not getting what they expected. I've worked on my listening and communication skills so I can deliver bad news in a way that the client will understand. Inevitably, there were angry responses, and at first, I took those personally. I learned a lot from my colleagues about how to compartmentalize and move forward with clients who did not have the outcome they expected. Interacting with clients is not a skill they teach in law school, but I've learned and grown in that area as I've worked in law."
