How have you handled making a wrong or bad decision?

People within the organization are going to seek your advice and counsel on a daily basis for a variety of issues. Inevitably, you will make a mistake. The interviewer wants to know how (or if) you are resilient and accountable to take ownership of the issue and manage the best possible outcome.

While it is imperative to be honest when answering such a question, focus your answer on your solution and what you learned from the experience. Do not get caught up in the negativity of recalling your mistakes; focus on how you have grown since.

"I had a client who went against my advice and proceeded with a course of action I did not agree with. Instead of terminating our relationship, we moved forward to complete the deal she was pursuing. When it went badly, the client was understandably upset but wanted to take her anger out on me by threatening various actions against me. In the end, everything was resolved, but I learned to trust my instincts about when to end client relationships."
