If you want to be considered for the position, avoid saying that you require close supervision. The interviewer wants an intern who is comfortable working alone but knows when to ask a manager or mentor for assistance with a project.

"I am very comfortable working independently, but I enjoy collaborating with others in a team environment as well. I do not prefer close supervision as I am confident in my skills once I learn something new. If I have a question or require assistance from my manager or mentor, I will not hesitate to ask them."
